TYN aims to facilitate and encourage youth to become aware and active, and act as responsible stakeholders, and advance a spirit of collaboration, cooperation and participation among youth through our activities and network.
Goals

- Network like-minded youth from around the world and foster communication and collaboration with other stakeholders
- Facilitate youth involvement while improving the effectiveness of youth participation and volunteerism
- Assist youth in creating, developing and implementing viable and sustainable projects
- Increase youth’s knowledge of and experience in the realm of the UN and international politics
- Raise awareness of youth’s current and potential contributions to international politics and the grassroots as active partners
The THIMUN Youth Network is the internationally youth-run programme of the THIMUN Foundation, which is an international non-governmental organisation in Roster Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The main focus of our organisation is to facilitate and encourage youth to become aware and active, responsible stakeholders in global issues affecting youth, such as HIV/AIDS, water and human rights. We aim to advance a spirit of collaboration, cooperation and participation among youth through our activities and network, by fostering dialogue between young people between the ages of 16 to 25 from diverse backgrounds. The THIMUN Youth Network also has several ongoing projects and activities that link the grassroots with policymakers and other stakeholders.
The THIMUN Youth Assembly (TYA) is an annual conference that aims to enable, empower and educate young people to become active stakeholders in today’s world . Through a series of workshops, discussions and the creation of a “pilot project”, participants will be challenged to think about how they can make a difference in their local communities and be taught a set of invaluable skills that they will be able to apply to many future endeavours.
Hosting a range of interactive workshops facilitated by experienced professionals, the annual (summer) symposium will provide youth with the opportunity to learn about the role of youth as active stakeholders in global and local issues. The knowledge exchanged at the summer symposium will be invaluable to those youth wishing to become more active within the global commons and in political arenas.
Futhermore, our roster consultative status with the United Nations allows us access to UN conferences, such as the UN Commission on Sustainable Development and the UN Commission on the Status of Women. While fully embracing these opportunities we also send delegations to such events as the World Water Forum and the International AIDS Conference. Unlike most youth organisations, we offer our expertise as a mediator and facilitator rather than directly aiming to create policy at international conferences. Our multi-national delegations of experiences youth have proven to provide unique insight and skills to both youth groups and other major groups in international diplomatic settings.TYN further aims to create a constant flow of information through our network, to our partners and to the public. This is achieved through our Thematic Programmes, which pertain to a variety of global themes; such as Health, the Enviorment, Human Rights and more. The programmes are in constant development and link with all of TYN’s activities including TYA, the summer symposium and our attendance at international conferences. These programmes, via our website, provide the means for resource and experience sharing, provide a database of institutional knowledge to any future participants, and encourage the engagement of those youth outside of our network by providing them with information and resources.
